About the Journal

AI Med is committed to a transparent and open editing process and maintains the highest standards of academic integrity. Our process ensures that every manuscript is comprehensively evaluated from submission to publication and clear communication is carried out at each stage.

AI Med editing process

The following is a detailed overview of our editing workflow:

Initial quality inspection
After submission, each manuscript will undergo an initial quality check. This step involves technical assessment, such as format, compliance and adherence to ethical standards. Importantly, we use tools like iThenticate to check for plagiarism and ensure that the content of the manuscript is original. Manuscripts that do not meet the basic standards of the journal may be returned to the author for revision before proceeding.

Editor's Pre-check
After the initial quality check, the manuscript is evaluated by the chief editor or the designated academic editor. This pre-check assesses the scientific value of the manuscript, its relevance to the scope of the journal, and its potential contribution to the field. Manuscripts that do not meet these standards may be rejected at this stage, and clear reasons will be provided to the authors.

Peer review
Manuscripts that pass the pre-check by the editor will be sent for peer review. AI Med follows a double-blind peer review process, and the identities of the reviewers are concealed from the authors. Authors can choose to recommend potential reviewers. However, to ensure the completeness and objectivity of the review process, the following limitations exist:

Reviewers who have conflicts of interest with the author (such as personal or financial relationships) are not eligible.
Reviewers who have collaborated with the author in the past three years have been excluded.
Reviewers who work at the same institution as the author are not allowed to review the manuscript.
The peer review process usually involves at least two independent reviewers who assess the quality, originality and scientific rigor of the manuscript. Then, their feedback was used to guide the editorial decision-making process.

Author's revision:
If revisions are needed based on the feedback from the reviewers, detailed comments and suggestions will be provided to the authors to improve their manuscripts. The revision process is transparent and there are clear guidelines to address the concerns of reviewers. Authors are encouraged to carefully consider all feedback and submit revised manuscripts that meet the journal's standards.

Editor's decision:
After the peer review process is completed, the chief editor or academic editor will review the feedback from the reviewers. Based on these feedbacks and their own evaluations of the manuscripts, the editors decide whether the manuscripts need to be revised, accepted or rejected. This decision will be transparently communicated to the author, and any necessary requests for explanation or modification will be made.

Final editing and production
After the manuscript is accepted, it will go through several stages of final editing to ensure that it meets the quality standards of the journal:

Copywriter: This manuscript has been improved to be clear, consistent and in line with the journal's style guidelines, thereby enhancing its readability and professionalism.
English editor: Review the language to ensure accuracy, clarity and correctness, enabling international audiences to conduct research.
Author proofreading: The author will receive a proof of their manuscript for final review. This step allows the author to check for any errors or final adjustments before the manuscript is published.
XML/HTML/PDF production: The final version of the manuscript is produced in multiple formats, including XML, HTML and PDF, to ensure its accessibility and usability on various platforms.
Publishing ethics
AI Press adheres to the transparency principles and best practices of academic publishing. All AI Press editors have undergone rigorous training to detect and address ethical issues.

We adhere to the COPE procedures to handle unethical behavior by authors, reviewers or editors. The ethical issues raised by readers will be investigated by the editorial department in accordance with the COPE guidelines.

Disputes over authorship are managed in accordance with the COPE guidelines. If all authors agree, the author status can be updated through correction. If not, we need an authoritative statement from the author's institution.

For more details, please refer to the Publication ethics page on our journal's website.

Editorial independence
AI Med adheres to the principle of editorial independence. Editorial decisions, including peer review results and the acceptance of manuscripts, are made without being influenced by external parties, including sponsors, advertisers or other stakeholders. The chief editor and the editorial team are fully responsible for the academic quality of the journal and ensure that all published content meets our strict standards.
