AI Use Policy

AI Med supports responsible, transparent, confidentiality-preserving, and human-accountable use of artificial intelligence and automated tools in scholarly publishing.

Authors

Authors may use AI tools for language improvement, formatting support, coding assistance, or research workflows where appropriate. Meaningful use of generative AI or automated tools in manuscript preparation, figures, data analysis, code, or supplementary materials must be disclosed, including the tool and version where known, purpose, affected material, and human verification performed.

Human Accountability

Human authors remain fully responsible for accuracy, originality, integrity, citations, analyses, images, code, and conclusions. AI tools cannot be listed as authors and must not be cited as authoritative sources. Confidential patient, participant, reviewer, or manuscript information must not be uploaded to an unapproved AI service.

Reviewers

Reviewers must independently assess manuscripts and must not use generative AI to create substantive peer-review content or recommendations. Unpublished manuscripts, figures, data, reviewer reports, editorial correspondence, and personal information must not be uploaded to public or third-party AI tools.

Editors

Editors must independently assess manuscripts and must not use generative AI to generate substantive editorial assessments, acceptance or rejection decisions, or decision rationales. Confidential submission and review materials must not be uploaded to unapproved AI services.

Publisher Use of Automated Tools

Controlled automation may support workflow routing, formatting checks, reference or DOI validation, similarity screening, image-integrity alerts, accessibility checks, reviewer-candidate support, and public-site quality assurance. Outputs are alerts or drafts reviewed by qualified staff; no publication action is made solely by an automated system.

Public AI Features

An article-level AI Summary, AI Q&A, or comparable generated feature must not be displayed unless the journal can disclose the tool, version, purpose, limitations, human-review process, and correction route. If these controls cannot be verified, the feature remains disabled.

Corrections and Concerns

Suspected inaccurate, misleading, undisclosed, confidential, or inappropriate AI-assisted content may be reported to [email protected]. The journal will review the evidence and correct the public record where warranted.

Integrity and Enforcement

Undisclosed or inappropriate use of AI tools may lead to clarification requests, revision, investigation, correction, retraction, or other proportionate editorial action. Automated output is not treated as proof of misconduct without human assessment.
