Review Model

AI Med uses a double-blind peer review process. Author identities are not disclosed to reviewers, and reviewer identities are not disclosed to authors.

Initial Editorial Assessment

After submission, the editorial office checks completeness, journal fit, presentation, and compliance with editorial and research-integrity requirements. Manuscripts may undergo originality and integrity screening before external review.

Independent External Review

Every research paper and every other scholarly manuscript submitted to AI Med must be assessed by at least two independent external reviewers with relevant subject expertise before an acceptance decision is made and before publication. Reviewers assess originality, methodological rigour, clarity, validity of conclusions, ethical appropriateness, and relevance to the journal.

Editorial Content and Other Exceptions

Editorials, announcements, news items, and comparable non-research content may receive editorial assessment rather than external peer review. The article page or publication record identifies the content type and assessment received.

Special Issues and Guest Editors

Special-issue manuscripts follow the same independent external-review requirements as regular manuscripts. The Editor-in-Chief retains responsibility for the issue, and guest editors must not handle their own submissions or manuscripts affected by a conflict of interest.

Editorial Decisions and Revisions

Reviewer recommendations are advisory. The Editor-in-Chief or a delegated handling editor makes the final decision after considering independent reviews, the manuscript, revisions, and applicable integrity requirements.

Confidentiality, Conflicts, and Recusal

Reviewers and editors must treat submitted manuscripts as confidential. Anyone with a personal, professional, institutional, or financial conflict of interest must decline or withdraw. A replacement editor handles conflicted manuscripts.

Integrity of Review

The journal does not tolerate peer-review manipulation, fabricated reviewer identities, fraudulent reviews, or interference with editorial decisions.
