Guide for Authors

Scope

AI Med publishes work within three core directions: Medical Informatics; Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence; and Biomedical Engineering. Every submission must have a substantive medical, healthcare, or biomedical application.

Article Types

The journal considers Original Research Articles, Review Articles, Methods Papers, Short Communications, Case Reports or Case-Based Analyses, Editorials, Commentaries, Perspectives, and Announcements. Editorials, announcements, news items, and comparable non-research content are not presented as peer-reviewed research.

Before Submission

The submission must be original, not under consideration elsewhere, and approved by every listed author. Authors must provide complete and accurate declarations and must not submit fabricated, falsified, plagiarised, duplicated, or improperly attributed material.

Author Identity and Contributions

The title page must provide each author's full name, confirmed order, institutional affiliation, corresponding-author contact details, ORCID where available, and contribution roles. The blinded manuscript must omit names, affiliations, acknowledgements, and avoidable identifying information.

Files to Prepare

Prepare a title page, a blinded manuscript, figures, tables, supplementary material, and all declarations required for the study and article type.

Manuscript Structure

Original research articles should generally include Title, structured Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusions, Funding, Conflict of Interest, Ethics and Consent where applicable, Generative AI Disclosure, Data and Code Availability, References, and figure or table legends.

Abstract and Keywords

Provide an informative abstract and 3 to 8 keywords. The abstract must accurately report the objectives, methods, principal results, limitations, and conclusions without unsupported claims.

Peer Review

AI Med uses double-blind peer review. Every research paper and every other scholarly manuscript must be assessed by at least two independent external reviewers before an acceptance decision and publication.

Research Ethics and Integrity

Where applicable, state the approving ethics body and reference, consent procedures, trial registration, and compliance framework. Do not invent approval or exemption identifiers.

Funding and Conflicts of Interest

Provide a funding statement and disclose all financial and non-financial conflicts. Fees and commercial considerations do not influence editorial decisions.

Generative AI Disclosure

Generative AI tools cannot be authors. Authors must disclose the tool, version where known, purpose, and human verification performed. Authors remain accountable for accuracy, originality, citations, confidentiality, and integrity.

Data and Code Availability

Every research manuscript must include a reader-facing data and code availability statement. Cite stable public repositories, accession numbers, release versions, licences, and access conditions where sharing is possible.

References

References must be accurate, complete, and consistent. Include DOIs where available and verify that each DOI resolves to the cited work.

Copyright and Licensing

Authors retain copyright. Published articles are open access under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence, unless a clearly stated approved exception applies.

Article Processing Charges

For manuscripts accepted on or before 31 December 2027, the APC is fully waived. For manuscripts accepted on or after 1 January 2028, the APC is USD 800. Submission, page, colour, withdrawal, and language-editing fees are none.

Submission Checklist

Confirm scope fit, author approval and metadata, a blinded manuscript, figures and supplementary files, ethics and consent statements where applicable, funding, conflicts, AI disclosure, data and code availability, licences and permissions, and accurate references.
